Remuda Ranch, a Christian treatment center in Arizona, uses inpatient physicians to help heal eating disorder recovery patients.

Located in the charming town of Wickenburg, Arizona, Remuda Ranch Christian treatment center offers inpatient treatment for females with anorexia and bulimia, as well as outpatient care that includes an emotional eating program. Their faith based programs have an over 90% success rate for patient’s recovery a year after discharge.

Inpatient Treatment

Each patient has a team made up of well-rounded professionals who are each in charge of a specific aspect of the individual’s recovery. All of the programs incorporate individual therapy, group sessions, a specific nutritional plan, and experientials such as equine therapy, body image classes, activity and art therapy, and nutrition groups. The center also treats co-occurring conditions like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), mood and personality disorders, substance abuse and post trauma stress disorder.

  • Adult Program: Females over the age of 17 years old are admitted into the 46 bed, 45-60 day adult program. This component has a family week when spouses, parents and/or siblings visit the site to participate in therapy and activities.
  • Adolescent Program: Designed to meet the needs of young women ages 13-17 years old, this 60-day program focuses on parental and family involvement. Interactive and experiential groups are utilized and weekly teleconferences are had between the primary care therapist and parents.
  • Children’s Program: Girls from the age of 8 years old are accepted into this highly specialized program that lasts for 60 days. A strong emphasis is placed on the caregiver’s participation and education, while experiential groups and some one-on-one therapy sessions are utilized.

Outpatient Treatment

This component is designed for both adolescents and adults (in 2 separate programs), who either don’t need the intensive inpatient care or who have been discharged from the inpatient program and need a bridge before going back home. Women stay for 30-60 days in a medically sub acute facility. The focus is on learning how to live independently without an eating disorder.

Remuda LIFE Program

The women live in a gated residential community outside of Phoenix, Arizona, in apartment-type homes. This is also the place where patients can admit into the Emotional Eating Program, as well as the Healthy Image Day Program for overweight children of 8-13 years old.

All programs incorporate an extensive aftercare plan that is organized from the first day they arrive. Staff will keep previous therapists and Doctors up-to-date with the patient’s progress throughout her visit and will refer her to alternate professionals if she doesn’t have a full team set up.

Staff members will contact each woman 6 times during the first year after discharge in order to ensure her continued recovery.

Remuda Ranch’s programs are some of the most thorough in the country and have a success rate of over 90%. The facilities are highly regarded within the professional community and provides safe, spiritual and comprehensive treatment.

Lori Henry :
I just received this news from Remuda Ranch about their above location and thought I would pass it along:

Just as in Arizona, this program offers a residential level of care for eating disordered women and adolescent girls. Patients can admit from outpatient therapy if their symptoms are not severe enough to warrant our inpatient program. Or, because returning directly home after intensive treatment often proves too challenging, patients may spend time at Remuda Life. This transitional care often prevents relapse.
In fact, many patients leave intensive care and return home, only to discover the stress is simply too much for them or their families. If this is the case for a patient of yours, our Remuda Life program may be exactly what she needs to get back on track. We can also help those struggling with Obesity, Compulsive Overeating and Binge-Eating Disorder through our Emotional Eating Program.
If you know someone who could benefit from care at either one of our Remuda Life programs, please refer them to our Admissions Department at 1-800-445-1900.
