The leader in providing books on issues relating to eating disorders, Gurze Books is a family owned publishing company created by a husband and wife team.

Lindsey Hall and Leigh Cohn are the masterminds behind this outfit that started in 1980. They wrote their first book, Bulimia: A Guide to Recovery, Lindsay's personal story of recovery, and the resource grew from there. They are now known as THE on-line bookstore to visit when searching for disordered eating material.

They also publish newsletters and journals for both professionals and the general public:

Eating Disorders Today is a quarterly newsletter for individuals and their loved ones struggling with an eating disorder. There are regular articles regarding book reviews, questions and answers and inspirational messages.

Gurze News is an announcement sent out quarterly via email with updates on new releases, special sales, conferences, and other information.

The Health At Every Size Journal is for professionals to help understand the Health at Every Size movement. It is committed to exposing deception, reshaping social attitudes and promoting good health for people of all sizes.

The Eating Disorders Review is an 8-page, bimonthly newsletter for professionals which deals with current treatment and research.

I think my next step is to read lots of books on ED's so I can understand. I wonder if they ship to the UK? I'll take a look...

Yes, finding out about the disorder is an important step in recovery. By realizing that many things contribute to disordered eating, it makes it easier to seperate "it" from "you." It is also interesting and helps to have faith in recovery.

Gurze does ship internationally, but I think they add a $15.00 shipping fee.

This is a great resource! When I began recovering, I found Gurze right away and now do all of my related book shopping there. I like supporting them and they carry some really interesting books.
