Find a help resource to end the epidemic of eating disorders. Anorexia and bulimia have become a widespread worldwide illness.

In the hopes of ending the epidemic of eating disorders, the organization below offers support and resources. With anorexia, bulimia and binge eating becoming widespread worldwide illnesses, it couldn't come at a better time.

The Joy Project is a non-profit organization based on a grassroots approach. They aim to end the epidemic of eating disorders by conducting research, providing education and offering support programs.

They are located in Minnesota and hold a weekly ANAD support group for eating disorders every Monday. Click here for more information about it.

Their current initiatives include a petition to the American Psychiatric Association, message boards and support groups. The future looks busy for them, as they are also interested in compiling a treatment directory, a recovery-oriented cookbook, a meal-planning and grocery shopping "buddy" support, a recovery self-help kit, a survivor's quilt, and public speaking events and workshops.

They are also wishing to open outpatient-based and long-term eating disorder treatment centers. The group is based on volunteer help and has put together many opportunities for people touched by eating disorders or are in recovery, to help make the organization even bigger.

Peer Advocate positions are available, as well as volunteer coordinators, fundraising director, webmaster and a multitude of other options like administration, putting up flyers and grant writing. This allows people at all stages of recovery to make a difference in their own way.

The Joy Project web site is a plethora of information, links, a discussion board, resources and inspiration for eating disorder recovery.
