Ascensia Glucose Meter for Diabetes TestingBusiness Advertising for Health Care Uses Bad Ad Tactics
An ad tactic by Ascensia glucose meter (for diabetes testing) takes business advertising for health care to an inappropriate level.
The Ascensia glucose meter is to monitor blood sugar for diabetes testing. This business advertising for health care uses bad ad tactics to convey their message that is just plain inappropriate. Click here to see the Ascensia Glucose Meter ad I refer to. See the picture at the link above that inspired this article. If you can't view it, it's an image of a woman strapped to a big red and white target. There's a man in the foreground throwing knives at her and the caption reads, "BETTER BE ACCURATE." What is being advertised? The Ascensia blood glucose meter for diabetes testing. I really believe we need to find a better way to sell products than using attractive women as "targets" to draw attention. This certainly isn't the worst ad I've ever seen, but it deserves a mention for its blatant irrelevance to the product being sold. I hate even drawing more attention to the bad ones, but I just had to share this one. I do try to look at advertisements objectively, but they do hit a personal note sometimes. Unfortunately, that's because they work. This ad for the Ascensia glucose meter for diabetes testing is another example of business advertising for health care that goes too far. To use a bad ad tactic is to use shock instead of creativity. I'd love to get your feedback on this one. Fire off your opinions in the comments box below. Seen any offensive ads lately?
